Confessions

1. I hate brushing my kids' teeth.

2. After listening to endless whining, I am publicly vowing to never buy another fruit snack again. Seriously, do they put addictive substances in those things? My kids are nuts for them.

3. I eat double stuff Oreos and watch reruns of the Cosby Show while my kids are napping. (hmmm, no wonder that pregnancy weight isn't coming off)

4. I love making people laugh, especially Matt. I try to think up new ways to make him laugh during my day and then try them out on him when he's at home.

5. I have no idea how to use the word "touche" correctly.

6. The main reason I take my kids to playgroups is so I can talk to other moms.

7. I secretly think that my husband is the best husband out there (no offense to other husbands!)

8. I ate the last piece of Camille's Elmo Birthday Cake.

9. After 3 years, 3 months, and 12 days, of being a mother for 24 hours a day, I can honestly say that I LOVE being a mother and all that it entails. I find so much contentment in taking care of my kids, teaching them, and loving them. It took a while for me to feel comfortable in this role. But now that I am, there's nothing else I'd rather be doing with my life.

Yuck

Let's face it, being a mother is just plain disgusting sometimes. I'll warn you now, if you are eating, you may want to discontinue reading. This morning I was doing the dishes while the girls were in the tub. All of the sudden I hear: "MOM!!!! There's poop in the tub!" I come running to see Camille with a red face and a look of utter shame while she says, "I poop". It was so hard not to laugh through the entire thing. I tried to reassure her that it's something that just happens sometimes while Evie is saying "Gross, Camille. You're not supposed to poop in the tub. Nasty."

I get the girls out of the tub to survey the damage. Low and behold there is about two diapers worth of feces floating around and it was, shall we say, "loose". To complicate matters, they were taking a bubble bath which made it impossible for me to tell whether I was picking up a toy or a piece of poop. I misjudged a couple of times. The last piece of the disgusting puzzle was that we had corn the night before. So here I am, fishing "recycled" corn out of the tub with two naked girls running around the house and thinking two things to myself:

1. this is so gross and
2. this is going to make one great blog!

The ol' switcharoo

Eve and Camille have the funniest eating habits: they eat exactly the opposite of the other one. Let me explain. If we were to go to Arby's, Camille eats the meat and Eve eats the bun. Whatever I give them for lunch or dinner, I'll look at their plates afterward and they've eaten opposite things. Here's their lunch from today:

Camille ate the eggs, Eve ate the blueberries. (Apparently nobody wanted the applesauce!)

Yesterday I let them eat on a little table while they watched "Enchanted" as a reward for some things they'd done earlier in the day. I gave them grilled cheese, yogurt, and apples. Eve ate the grilled cheese, Camille ate the yogurt. Without even saying a word to each other, they both stand up, move to the other person's plate, and start eating their preferred food (Eve finished off Camille's sandwich and Camille finished off Eve's yogurt). These two are yin and yang incarnate!

Oquirrh Mountain Temple

Matt and I were able to take the kids up to the new Oquirrh Mountain Temple before it's dedicated. It was such a great opportunity to let the girls see the inside of the temple. Matt and I were blown away with how beautiful it was. When we walked into one of the rooms Eve even said "it's so pretty!" For those that are unfamiliar with our temples, they are open to the public during an "open house". Everyone is welcome to walk through and have a tour. After it's dedicated, however, it's only open to members of the church who are living certain standards. It's a place where we make additional promises to our Heavenly Father, and we are able to be sealed to our family for eternity, not just until death do us part. At one point I looked at my little family and felt so happy that my husband will always be my husband, and my children will always be my children because Matt and I were married in the Denver Temple. It's such a peaceful place and I'm so happy my kids were able to experience it.

Here's one of Eve's favorite songs that she was singing in the back seat as we pulled away from the temple:

I love to see the temple
I'm going there someday
to feel the Holy Spirit
to listen and to pray.

For the temple is the house of God;
a place of love and beauty.
I'll prepare myself while I am young,
this is my sacred duty.

Tutus and crazy ties

Eve started a little ballet class once a week. She is just adorable in her little ballet outfit! I got her an extra small tutu and it still hangs on her hips. I love that you can see her little 6-pack through her leotard, too. (She calls it a dance-tard...I know I should correct her, but I just want to giggle a few more times when she says it!)

Cuteness is off the charts on this one!

Father's Day
Camille's birthday and Father's day happened to fall on the same day this year. I thought it was really neat until the day actually came. I think the only time I sat down was to eat meals and nurse Ian. Phew! I was so tired by the end of the day that I decided it's not neat to have two major things on one day.

While Daddy was getting a good sleep-in, the kids and I made Daddy a tie to wear to church. And, believe it or not...he actually wore it! What a sport.

Daddy's breakfast in bed: his tie, a loving note, eggs-in-the-middle (Matt's favorite breakfast that I find to be totally revolting) and his choice of milk or a Mountain Dew. He was a good boy and drank the milk.

Dearest Matt,
I think you are one of the greatest fathers I've ever known. You are so loving towards the kids and I'm sure they never doubt how much you love them. I love that you are such a hands-on dad. You are the first one to get on the ground and look for bugs, design a new game using random items throughout the house, play on the playground equipment even though you are well over 6 feet tall, make silly noises and faces just to get one of the kids to laugh, and play a game of monster even though you've played it twelve times in the last hour. I love you so much and feel so happy that our kids get to have you as their father.
